As Achilles came closer Hector ran! He ran around the walls of the city three times, each time giving Achilles a better chance to catch him. Right before my eyes I saw Hector revert to his cowardly ways. Reasoning with Achilles would not have gotten him anywhere because Achilles would have killed him anyways. He seemed as if everything he knew before Achilles arrived had left.
As Achilles approaches I could see the panic fill Hector. Hector, clouded by his temporary overconfidence, ignored the calls for him to come back. Hectors mother attempted to stop him by exposing her breast to remind him of what she gave to him. Even his father, Priam, wanted him to come back inside the walls of the city. As we could have predicted, Hector did not stand up to Achilles as planned.
